Buffalo, Minn. Cody Mann, a 28-year-old Minnesota man, was jailed Monday after he allegedly skinned and cooked his cat for dinner.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Mann’s apartment after his father called and asked them to check in on his son.
Mann’s father told dispatchers that his son had been making strange comments lately and he feared for his son’s safety.
An arriving deputy knocked on Mann’s apartment door, but no one answered.
A short time later, the apartment manager called and reported a burning smell coming from Mann’s apartment. A deputy responded and noticed the smell of burning hair from outside the apartment.
Deputies entered the residence and found Mann inside cooking a cat. Mann reportedly admitted to skinning the animal before placing it inside the oven to bake. He argued that he didn’t know what the problem was since it was his cat and he wanted to see what it would taste like with onions.
Mann was taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. Once cleared at the hospital, he was booked into the Wright County Jail and charged with mistreatment of animals.
